“They found Him in the Temple…and He said to them, did you know that I must be about my Father’s business?” (Luke 2:46-69). This scripture is directed to all who consider themselves children of God. This is a constant challenge that we are to be about our Father’s business and learn to live every moment of our lives in our Father’s house. The life of Jesus Christ, the way He worked and lived among people while here on earth was a vital and simple life. God expects the life of Jesus to work and live within His children.
Can you identify yourself with the following questions? 1) Do I look at my life as being in my Father’s house? 2) Does the reality of God and His order abide in me moment by moment? 3) Do I pray only when things have gone wrong or when there is some disturbance in my life? 4) Is the grace of Jesus ministering life being worked out through my in your home, my business, and in my circle of friends? 5) Am I a holy, innocent child of God as a result of my identification with Jesus as my Lord and Savior? 6) Am I so closely identified with the Lord’s life that I am simply a child of God, continually talking to Him and realizing that everything comes from His hands?
Some of us have not yet begun to learn that we must be about our Father’s business no matter what age. We must learn to live in holy fellowship and stay in perfect oneness with Jesus Christ, allowing God to have His way with us. There’s no time like the present to serve God. A life without God can produce a bitter, lonely, and hopeless old age. A life centered on God is fulfilling.
It makes the “days of trouble,” when disabilities, sickness, and handicaps, become barriers to an enjoyable and satisfying life because of the hope and promise of eternal life. Let us stop wasting time on meaningless activities that become bad habits for us and for those who are watching us.
