The 2015 Jefferson Street Jazz and Blues Festival is coming Saturday, June 20th to the Bicentennial Mall. This festival is one of the most anticipated events on the Nashville Convention and Visitors calendar, and delivers a world class production each year. The 2015 production is headlined by global superstar Angela Winbush, and also features recording artists Phil Perry, Rod McGaha and Glen Jones, as well as local sensation Joe Johnson.
“A fantastic show is in the making for 2015 and fans can expect to enjoy a night of amazing musical talent and fun,“ said Sharon Hurt.
In conjunction with the annual festival, the Bridging the Gap Bridge Mixer occurs the previous night, Friday, June 19 downtown on the Cumberland Riverfront. Friday’s Mixer is a party for all ages on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, with music playing on the East and West End of the Bridge, delicious offerings.

June is Black Music Month, and a 21st century Nashville tradition continues, brought to you by the good folks at the Jefferson Street United Merchants Partnership – J.U.M.P. The musical event features multiple stages set throughout the Bicentennial Mall filled with vendors, food trucks, a customized Children’s Pavilion, and much more. The artists perform in F from local vendors and food trucks, and vendors offering beautiful jewelry, and so much more.
“The Jazz and Blues Festival is more than just another music festival, it’s a homecoming,” said Sharon Hurt, executive director of J.U.M.P. “This event brings thousands of people to Jefferson Street and allows the businesses to promote their goods and services to those who wouldn’t normally visit the area that once attracted popular R&B artists like Little Richard, Ray Charles, Jimi Hendrix and Fats Domino.”
Quote from attendee last year, “It’s so nice to see EVERYBODY having a good time; older folks in lawn chairs with cocktails in hand, relaxing and enjoying the river view on each side, and the younger folks ‘shaking their groove thang’ up and down the bridge. Music is da bomb and is a universal unifier! My first time attending and will definitely be back!”
The festival embraces the Germantown Community, and promotes the Farmers Market. From emerging to nationally known artists, this daylong event celebrates the influence of African American music on American culture and directly the city of Nashville.
Organized in 1994, the Jefferson Street United Merchants Partnership (J.U.M.P.) strives to empower area merchants and residents to preserve and promote the historic corridor.
