AkaiCon Third Sail comes to Cool Springs

AkaiCon Third Sail is Friday, August 7 through Sunday, August 9 at the Cool Springs Convention Center – Franklin Marriott Hotel. This is their third venture as Nashville’s hottest new Anime Convention.

“AkaiCon wants to be Nashville’s bridge to the fandom industry by bringing attendees the best entertainment in a safe, friendly environment where we all feel like family,” says Tina Moore, Director of Industry Relations, about “The Akaicon Experience.”

AkaiCon Third Sail features voice actors Danielle McRae, Scott McNeil, Jason Marsden, Matthew Mercer, and Lauren Landa; cosplay guests Vedetta Marie, Matthew Lassiter (AKA ScatterDOT), Phil Mizuno; Japanese cultural / language expert Steven D’Onofrio; game show host Greggo; all-around ‘Geek Girl’ Marisha Ray; musical guests DJ Remedy and Kazha; and master of fun Gavin Fitch.

Experience Club Rising Sun (dance event), Concerts, Cosplay Tournament, Dealers Hall, Panels, Japanese Street Fashion Show, AkaiCon After Hours (18+ events, risque cosplay, etc.), Anime Music Video Contest, and Toonami Lounge (21+ VIP-only event; tickets extra).

AkaiCon was formed by fans interested in a corporate quality show without the corporate feel. Their staff is a family of friends with over 500 fandom conventions worth of attendance and staffing experience. They are bringing a new experience to Nashville and it’s thriving scene of Anime and pop culture fandom. AkaiCon One rocketed off beyond their wildest expectations in 2013 and built momentum in 2014. Come sail away with them during their pirate themed weekend at AkaiCon 3.

AkaiCon is a proud member of Project Anime, assisting in expanding and promoting the growth of Japanese Anime and Japanese Culture through legitimate business practices. Project Anime brings together the industry’s best conventions in an act of good will to help each other work and grow together as cooperative entities.

One-Day wristbands are $20.00; Two-Day badges are $25; Three-Day tickets will be $35.00. Meet Danielle McRae

Video Game and Anime Voice Actress Danielle McRae is a special guest at this year’s AkaiCon. Being a huge fan of video games and anime, her passion has led her to pursue a voice acting career in the industry. Some of her most notable credits have been in League of Legends as Karma the Enlightened One, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm as Hagara the Stormbinder, and Painwheel in the Popular 2D fighting game, Skullgirls Encore! Danielle has also earned several other roles including Threia Hazelgrimm in Atelier Escha & Logy, Rift Arachna in Heroes of Newerth, New Conglomerate solider in Planetside 2, Sidel in Dragon Nest, Additional voices in Sword Art Online, Captain Arley Sims and the Adjutant in Starcraft Universe, Wing Diver Unit in `, Onderia in Gargantia: On the Verderous Planet, and Matilda in the upcoming anthromorphic 2D fighter, Beast’s Fury.
