The Arts Company opens its 2015 Fall Art Season beginning September 5 with a sculpture exhibition, The Sculpture of Edward Belbusti and Susan DeMay. The gallery will preview more of what to expect in the new season including new art by emerging artists Mandy Rogers Horton and Jodi Hays in October; new signature photography by Christine Patterson in November; 90 photographs by Jerry Park highlighting the Holiday Arts Market in December; plus, the remaining vintage Ed Clark photographs from Paris/1945. There will be new works by Edie Maney, Daryl Thetford, LaVon Williams, and others.

Tinney Contemporary presents Observations, Integrations, Pareidolia and Polysemy, a solo exhibition by James Perrin from September 5th until September 26th, 2015. Perrin’s paintings can be described as a combination of several painting methods that incorporate different ideas, frameworks, and physical strategies. He considers himself a formalist first and foremost, as he is less interested in his work’s ideology and more interested in exploring methods of creativity in order to achieve new visual languages and suggestions. He allows his creative process to be intuitive yet non-linear and at times chaotic, while focusing on the expressiveness and possibilities of paint and pictorial construction. He lets the paintings become their own self-contained realities. Opening Reception: September 5th, 6 to 9 pm.

At Corvidae Collective in the ArtCade, see The Painterly Photo – the Art of Thomas Dodd. Thomas Dodd is a visual artist and photographer based out of Atlanta, Georgia who has developed a style that he calls “painterly photo montage” – a method he employs in editing software in which he crafts elaborately textured pieces that have a very organic and decidedly non-digital look to them. Mythic themes and their relation to emotions and psychological states continue to be his primary subjects and motivations.

Also at Corvidae, see “Trust” by Gwil Owen. Gwil Owen is a Nashville-based collage artist and singer/songwriter. He is also one of the founders of Howlin’ Books on 8th Ave. S. Using vintage paper from a variety of sources he creates images which explore the relationships between technology, the environment, and the human heart. This is his debut gallery showing, co-curated by Unbound Arts.

At David Lusk Gallery, located at 516 Hagan Street in Nashville’s Wedgewood/Houston Neighborhood, during September Memphis artist Tad Lauritzen Wright takes over the entirety of David Lusk Gallery – Nashville with the exhibition Instructions Included. His new paintings, sculptures and drawings take inspiration from environmental causes, adding a bit of humor and lot of fun. From oversized car air fresheners to destroyed landscape paintings, the works in the show address our relationship to the world around us in fresh, non-traditional ways. In his work, nontraditional and traditional approaches to nature/landscape painting sit side-by-side, craft and hobby projects are raised to the status of art, and icons of the past are poised for new interpretation.
