Representatives from HCA, Sarah Cannon and Parallon recently unveiled a community mural during a community celebration held by Skanska at HCA’s Capitol View site at 1100 Charlotte Avenue in Nashville.The mural, which represents the services HCA, Parallon and Sarah Cannon provide to their clients and community, will be displayed in HCA’s new 16-story office building upon completion. The mural will be displayed on the job site’s perimeter fence until the building is completed. Skanska is the construction manager for the project.
Skanska’s National Director of Diversity and Inclusion and local artist James Threalkill along with fellow artists Michael McBride and Randy Purcell led the community youth in the creation of the mural.HCA is committed to a goal of 20 percent contracting with women- and minority-owned businesses as part of the Capitol View construction project. In the spirit of this commitment, HCA and Skanska engaged the local community in a creative exercise that adds an aesthetic quality to the construction site and honors diversity.
During the celebration, local students painted the remaining two panels of the mural on-site. East Nashville Magnet High School’s Soaring Eagle Marching Band performed, and Threalkill, McBride and airbrush artist Michael Mucker conducted live painting demonstrations.
