Can’t make it to Louisville for this year’s Kentucky Derby? Join Bridges for the third annual Music City Derby Day – Chomping at the Bit for Bridges event on Saturday, May 7 as they recreate the magic of Churchill Downs and raise money for programs and services for the Deaf and hard of hearing. Dress in your best Derby duds and festive headwear and watch live coverage of the Kentucky Derby. Mint Juleps will be awaiting you, so come out and take a crack at the silent auction and cheer on your favorite celebrity jockey during the stick-horse races.

This is the second year in a row that Tennessee State men’s basketball coach Dana Ford and his wife Christina will be involved in the event after serving as celebrity jockeys during the stick-horse race last year. Coach Ford will give a few short remarks to the crowd. The event includes live music, a silent auction, stick-horse race games and a live broadcast of the Kentucky Derby. Enjoy Old Forester Mint Juleps, Black Abbey and Yazoo beers, wines from Cool Springs Wines and Spirits, and Bacon & Caviar catering. This event is for ages 21 and up.

The proceeds of the event benefit over 207,000 individuals in middle Tennessee with hearing loss, and fund programs and services provided by Bridges, Nashville’s premier nonprofit resource for the Deaf and hard of hearing communities.

The organization’s services include after school programs, wellness classes, and case management services to Deaf and hard of hearing children and adults who face communication barriers in the hearing world.

Bridges helps to remove those barriers through American Sign Language interpreters, community education and outreach, and other programs.
