While searching for the perfect activity for a special Mother’s Day treat, consider Geo Soul Productions presentation of the gospel stage play, Let’s Straighten It Out on May 12-13. At 7 pm, the public is invited to share two nights at Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church, 1300 South Street. The play has been heralded as America’s #1 Gospel Play written and directed by George Darden.

Kendra and Carl Carpenter are in the middle of a power struggle. He’s growing a business. She wants “the finer things in life.” Things really unravel when Quint, a handsome attorney, comes along and sweeps Kendra off her feet. Kendra has to decide between her new lover and her husband.

Let’s Straighten it Out is a comedy about love, faith and healing. “In the same vein as Tyler Perry’s plays, the production is fit for the whole family,” said Darden, long time playwright, producer and director.

The play stars veteran actors Darius Willis (Drumline, Black Snake Moan), Shante’ King (Hav Faith), Brandon Ward, Theatricks Bryant and Candace Robinson. A cameo appearance from Adriann Lewis-Freeman from the gospel group Rizen, is also scheduled.
