AkaiCon returns to Maxwell House

AkaiCon returns home to the Millennium Maxwell House Hotel to bring you Nashville’s premiere anime convention Friday, August 4th through Sunday, August 6th of 2017. Rockets will fly, wormholes will loop, and engines will blaze! Come blast off to the fifth realm with Akai Con. This is the fifth year of the cenvetion, thus the name this year is AkaiCon: The Fifth Realm.

AkaiCon: The Fifth Realm strives to offer everyone a weekend getaway with people they consider family and friends. They want everyone to feel a togetherness with others in the community and that they are not alone. They will offer a place for all to come and be themselves, or someone else for the weekend. They are a family, a community, and will do everything in their power to make sure your weekend is full of fun, laughs, excitement, and togetherness. This is Nashville’s newest and coolest anime convention weekend. If you’ve always wondered what an anime convention is like, this is the one to try.

“Of course we have a packed dealer’s room and artist’s alley,” says Dee Powers, Programming Director of AkaiCon. “The cosplay contest will be running on Saturday with plenty of prize giveaways. We will have the Dur Demarion foam fighting group outside doing demos all weekend. 50% Dangerous will be bringing their new fashion line to us in a show on Saturday. Rockin Robin will be bringing us her final Pokechurch performance. Friday night will bring us our Cosplay After Dark show, and Saturday night will bring our Club Rising sun EDM Dance Party. Cosplay guests will include KayBear Cosplay, PixelPantz cosplay, and Phil Mizuno Cosplay. Little Kuriboh will be joining us this year. Other big events will be Geek Slam on Saturday, and way out of left field for a convention of our type… there will be a Nashville Hot Chicken Eating Contest on Sunday.”

Panel discussions are always a big part of the weekend, and the AkaiCon: The Fifth Realm panel schedule should be available online the week of the convention. Guests for the weekend include Phil Mizuno, LittleKuriboh, Steven D’Onofrio, Marianne Miller, 50% Dangerous, PixelPantz, Peachy Parade, Erika Harlacher, Kay Bear, Affliction Cosplay Photography, Rachelle Heger, and Cosplay Kasterborous (with Cosplay-Senpai).
