ASCAP Pre-GMA DOVE Awards Reception a success

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and RCA Inspiration partnered to celebrate the 48th Annual GMA (Gospel Music Association) Dove Awards nominees on October 16. The five-star event included a reception held at Thiel Studios and Showroom in Nashville.

The room was filled with music industry executives, influencers, and media who were treated to intimate performances by artists such as Koryn Hawthorne, Tasha Page Lockhart, and the Walls Group. Other notable names in attendance included Grammy-nominated artist Jonathan McReynolds; host for the evening Not Karlton Banks; and singer/producer Marvin Winans, Jr.

The 48th annual GMA Dove Awards show kicked off on October 22, but re-broadcasts will air on TBN. Viewers are encouraged to check their local listing for times and re-broadcasts. Each artist performed current songs and showcased new material from upcoming albums to an excited and engaged audience.

Various indie artists from Nashville and beyond were also in attendance to pay homage to their industry colleagues.

The actual 2017 GMA DOVE Awards show was held at Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena. Hosting this year’s GMA DOVE Awards were two of Gospel Music industry favorites: Tasha Cobb and Kari Jobe.

The GMA DOVE Award performers this year included: Reba McEntire, Zach Williams, CeCe Winans, Mercy Me, Hillsong Worship, Mat Redman, Steven Walker, Danny Gokee, Gaiter Vocal Band, Donnie McClurkin, Ryan Stevenson, Bri (Briana Barbineaux), Travis Green, Casting Crowns, Erica Campbell, Hezekiah Walker, Micha Tyler, Hollyn, Jekalyn Carr, and Tauren Wells.

This year’s award presenters included an array of Gospel music legends and newcomers. The impressive lineup included: Chris Tomlin, Matt Maher, David and Tamela Mann, For King and Country, Anthony Brown, Beth Moore, Brandon Heath, Dr. Bobby Jones, John Gray, Kim Fields, Lauren Daigle, Mandisa, Montell Jordan, Mike Huckabee, Trace Adkins, Travis Cottrell, Karen Peck, Tye Tribbett, Chonda Pierce, Matthew West, Jackie Valesquez and Miel San Marcos.

The ASCAP pre-GMA DOVE Award Reception and Stellar Awards toasted many of their own, including songwriters, producers, and publishers who have received over 50 Dove Awards nominations this year for music ranging from gospel, country, pop, and bluegrass, to hip-hop, R&B and more. RCA Inspiration also celebrated receiving nine nominations this year.

ASCAP is a professional membership organization of songwriters, composers and music publishers of every kind of music. ASCAP’s core mission is to license and promote the music of its members and foreign affiliates, obtain fair compensation for the public performance of their works and to distribute the royalties it collects based upon those performances.
