It will begin at 6 pm with a private reception to follow after the main program. Some of the special guests include: musical performances by Gospel recording artist Michelle Praither; and Hip-Hop artist Lil Bri.

In addition, the foundation is honoring staunch community leaders such as Judge Sheila Calloway, Juvenile Court of Davidson County; Steve Fleming, executive director of Bethlehem Centers of Nashville; and Clinton Grey III, co-founder of Slim & Huskys.

Located in Nashville, The Varnell Foundation is geared towards helping at risk youth with a focus on males. Their vision is to assist them to the next level. Founder William Varnell is a former educator that has a heart for helping others. Their motto is ‘Tell me, observe me, praise me or redirect me and let me show you.’ The Varnell Foundation continues to set the standard for programs in Nashville and nationwide.

“The Legacy Builders take pride in molding and shaping young men of our future. That’s why the Rites of Passage is so important,” said Varnell Foundation Founder/President William Varnell. “These young men have worked hard to get where they are. Young men that are doing the right things need to be showcased. This is a way to shed some positive light for and give them encouragement to do their best.”

The sixteen young men honored attend various junior and high schools in Nashville with seven attending college in 2018. All proceeds for the event will go to the foundation. In addition to showcasing the young men, some special recognition will go to a number of unsung community leaders. Elders Darryl Taliaferro and Patrick Wester Reese will be hosting this spectacular event. Admission is free.
