The ladies of Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, 819 33rd Avenue North, held its annual Women Day service on Sunday, August 26th.  The 11:00 a.m. worship service was an observance of National Women’s Sunday.

During this year’s observation, the theme, “Women on a Mission for God” honored one of its members with a Music City USA Woman of the Year 2018 award.  This was presented to Rita McDonald, Area Chamber of Commerce Director of Membership.  She has held that position as the 2nd longest chamber employee and is a long-standing member of Corinthian.

Nashville Mayor David Briley was in attendance and helped to present the award to McDonald.

The Mayor said, “I just wanted to show my thanks and gratitude to a most helpful person as she continually remains the same, making every effort to be supportive.”

State Representative and Senator-elect, the honorable Brenda Gilmore, served as the Mistress of Ceremonies.

Also on this day, the message of women being on a mission was greatly received by the guest speaker, Minister Venessa Croney of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  Her message resonated in the room as she encouraged women (and men) to stop “tearing each other down!”  She admonished that people should lift one another up as we are all in the same situation.

“It was a good day at Corinthian,” stated one of the visitors.  “It was great to see State Representative Brenda Gilmore as the MC and the message was of great importance to us all, men and women.”

Pastor Enoch Fuzz stated, “I am very proud of the accomplishments of this day and extremely humbled to be a part of this special occasion.”  He also expressed the gratitude to many volunteers and how Rita McDonald is most deserving to be honored for her years of “connecting people through her work at the Chamber.”

Sister Myra T. Hall served as the chair of Women’s Day and Sister Hattie Black and Reverend Mary Polk served as co-chairs.

Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church is located at 819 33rd Ave. N., where the Rev. Enoch Fuzz is the pastor.
