Bridge named for late state Rep. Bill Beck

State and local leaders gathered in Madison to dedicate the new Representative Carson W. “Bill” Beck Memorial Bridge, honoring the late Tennessee lawmaker’s decade of service and his legacy of bipartisan leadership.

Madison, Tenn. — State and local leaders gathered Saturday to honor the late state Rep. Bill Beck with the dedication of a bridge bearing his name.

The “Representative Carson W. ‘Bill’ Beck Memorial Bridge” is located on U.S. Highway 31E, spanning Briley Parkway.

Current and former elected officials, including Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell, joined Beck’s family members and community leaders for the dedication ceremony at Amqui Station and Visitors Center in Madison.

Beck represented the area in the Tennessee House for nearly a decade before his death in 2023. He was remembered Saturday for his ability to work across party lines, as well as his boisterous laugh and outgoing personality.

Former Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell described Beck as “the model for a nice guy who wins.”
