HCA Healthcare / Tristar Health Broadway at TPAC presents Disney’s Aladdin May 2 – 7, 2023 in Andrew Jackson Hall, with Tickets starting at only $35. Discover a whole new world at Disney’s Aladdin, the hit Broadway musical. From the producer of The Lion King comes the timeless story of Aladdin, a thrilling production filled with unforgettable beauty, magic, comedy, and breathtaking spectacle.

It’s an extraordinary theatrical event where one lamp and three wishes make the possibilities infinite. Hailed by USA Today as “Pure Genie-Us,” Aladdin features all your favorite songs from the film as well as new music written by Tony® and Academy Award® winner Alan Menken (Newsies) with lyrics penned by the legendary Howard Ashman (Beauty and the Beast), Tony Award winner Tim Rice (The Lion King, Aida), and book writer Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer). See why audiences and critics agree, Aladdin is “Exactly What You Wish For!” (NBC-TV).

While the animated film was in development, the character of the Genie was based on jazz greats Cab Calloway and Fats Waller. Though this concept was eventually changed for the film, it was brought back to life for the Broadway show. Featuring an extended tap break, glittering gold costumes and massive towers designed in art deco style, the musical number “Friend Like Me” is an homage to Busby Berkeley’s 1933 classic movie musical 42nd Street. (It’s fitting, since Aladdin on Broadway plays at the New Amsterdam Theatre on 42nd Street!)

Michael James Scott originated the role of the Genie for the Broadway Cast. He originated Genie in Aladdin Australia (Helpmann Award). Best known for originating “The Maggots Guy” in The Book of Mormon and The Minstrel in Something Rotten! on Broadway. Other Broadway roles in Aladdin (original co.), Hair (original revival co.), All Shook Up (original co.), The Pirate Queen (original co.), Elf (original co.), Mamma Mia! and Tarzan. His appearances on TV have included “Black Monday,” “The Carrie Diaries,” “Independent Woman.” Holiday Album A Fierce Christmas on Spotify, iTunes.
