“Some of you were in darkness but you have been washed and made sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God,” 1 Corinthians 6:11.

Paul is making this word known to the saints at Corinth that at one point in the past, some of them were living in darkness. But he says: ‘You have been washed clean, made sanctified, made holy, and made right [justified] with God in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ in the Spirit of God. Now what ever you do, use the members of your body for God’s glory. God has allowed you to enjoy new life, so live for the glory of God. You are allowed to do all things, but all things are not good for you. It is lawful for a man to live any kind of way, but it is not expedient for a man—meaning that it is not good for you to live anyway you want to. If you fall prey to your past, you will become a slave to the past. The Lord God by His power has raised you up just like Christ was raised up. This is why your body is for God, and God’s Spirit is for your body. Your members (the parts of your body) are not to be concerned about the sins of the past, if they do the two will become one body. Let not your focus be sexual sin (immorality), greed, robbery, abusing others, getting drunk, cheating people, and worshipping idols. If you do you will become one with it, and you will not inherit God’s Kingdom. Don’t be like this world, don’t allow this world to fool you.’

“The scriptures say the two will become one body,” 1 Corinthians 6:16. We are one with the Lord, and one with the spirit of the Lord, because your body is the temple of the Lord for the glory of God in the Holy Spirit.

“You should know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have of God, you have received of God. You are not your own. For you are bought with a price therefore glorify [honor] God in your body, and in your spirit which is God’s,” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.

Whatever you do, be like Paul. Refuse to be a slave giving your life to sin. Refuse to be bound. Belong to God through the life and death of Christ that has freed us from sin. We are obligated to God’s service. Because your body belongs to God, you must not violate God’s standards for your life. Live to the glory of God.

2024 is your year of unlimited breakthroughs. You must hold to God’s standards for spiritual growth and live the full life that God has given you.
