On Saturday, April 13, at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, former state Sen. Brenda Gilmore will host her 14th annual ‘Kids and Kites Day.’
“All of Nashville is invited to this family fun event,” said former Sen. Gilmore. “Let’s enjoy some good weather, the fresh air, and flying a kite.”
The event takes place from 10 am-2 pm, and presents a special day for Nashville’s children to enjoy themselves while fighting childhood obesity and diabetes.
Events for the day include local health and wellness vendors, a one mile family fun walk/run; giveaway prizes; great music; free food; and, of course, kite flying.
The event serves a diverse number of children, motivates children to empower themselves, and teaches children good citizenship.
The event was founded by Sen. Gilmore and Lois Winston, Fantasia in Red, and the Red Hat Society.
