Nashville’s Minority Caucus honors civic leaders and awards scholarships to local HBCUs at Meharry Medical College, advancing equity, education and opportunity.

The Nashville Metropolitan Minority Caucus hosted its Annual Minority Caucus Reception on Tuesday, February 24, at The Cal Turner Family Center at Meharry Medical College, bringing together elected officials, community leaders, educators, and partners for an evening focused on civic engagement, equity, and opportunity across Davidson County.

The Minority Caucus presented its 2026 awards recognizing outstanding service and leadership in Davidson County, honoring Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover, Hon. Howard Gentry, Maura Lee Albert, and Dr. Veronica Elders.

As part of its ongoing commitment to education and workforce development, the Minority Caucus also awarded scholarship funding to Nashville’s historically Black colleges and universities —– American Baptist College, Fisk University, Meharry Medical College, and Tennessee State University —- to support students pursuing higher education while strengthening pathways to civic leadership and professional opportunity.
