The Tennessee Art League (TAL), a 60-year-old nonprofit organization based in Nashville whose mission is to enrich the community and the lives of artists as a cultural center, educational facility and art gallery has entered into a partnership with Music City Fine Art (MCFA), a new venture created by local entrepreneur Joey Amato in which the two entities will share TAL’s pre-existing space located on 5th Avenue in downtown Nashville.
Together, the two groups plan on revitalizing the existing gallery space and creating a welcoming environment, which incorporates art, music and culture and serves as a meeting space for members of Nashville’s arts community.
TAL encourages and promotes visual arts through art shows and sales, workshops, classes and community outreach.
“Our goal is to excite and support emerging fine artists with the opportunity to create, show and market their art; and to encourage regional residents to discover and celebrate artistic talent through their participation at gallery events and financial support,” said Celeste LaReau, Tennessee Art League’s brand new president. “We are so excited that this opportunity was presented to us and that Joey shares in the vision our Board has for this organization.”
Joey Amato is no stranger to the art world. In addition to creating Nashville’s Unite magazine, he also works with Relevant Communications, a public relations company founded by Allison Zucker-Perelman which represents numerous celebrity fine artists including Peter Max, Michael Godard, Alexandra Nechita, Doug Bloodworth, Romero Britto, Autumn de Forest as well as the estate of Salvador Dali. In addition, Relevant has publicized art exhibitions for Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood, Rick Allen of Def Leppard and Michael Cartellone of Lynyrd Skynyrd.
“I plan to bring my knowledge and expertise in the worlds of art and entertainment to the new space,” Amato said. “Fifth Avenue is an incredible destination for the arts community and I hope that the merger of our two groups can only further enrich downtown.”
The grand opening of the new combined space will take place Friday, March 6. Tennessee Art League will operate on normal business hours during the transition. Roy Laws and Doug Bloodworth will be the March’s featured artists at Music City Fine Art.
