When the Public Relations Review Podcast was launched January 2019 never was a global audience contemplated. The official launch that January day simply had the producer/host speaking into his microphone offering insights about successful marketing ideas. The podcast was hosted on a single site with no known audience. Producer/host Peter Woolfolk had questions to answer: how will the podcast be found by listeners? How will guests be secured?
Executing a well-developed plan, providing great content, professional guests and a quality production this podcast has accomplishments never contemplated at its launch. The podcast has now attracted listeners in 133 countries (covering 2,290 cities) around the world. The United Nations has 195 countries as members. It has listeners representing nearly 70% of the world. Woolfolk, founder of Communications Strategies, said: “Two plus years had passed before I began to notice a global audience. I stumbled onto this information when scanning my hosting site. Needless to say I am very pleased with these outcomes.”
A validation of the podcast’s quality content and acceptance include: a national Gold ‘Stevie Award’ from American Business Awards in 2022, and a 2021 ‘Parthenon Award’ for ‘Best PR Podcast’ from the Nashville PRSA. In addition, multiple sites have ranked the podcast among the ‘Top/Best’ PR podcasts in the nation. Spotify listed the podcast among its ‘Top 30% of Most Followed Podcasts.’ The podcast will be entered into three ‘Best Podcast’ competitions this year.
Woolfolk grew his audience by having professionals from all across the U.S. These guests promoted their appearance on their social media sites. Currently, his 120 guests have represented 46 of our states–with some duplication. Seven of his guests represented six foreign nations. The podcasts have generated numerous invitations for virtual presentations to other public relations chapters and to college public relations majors at Temple, Eastern Michigan, American and Nebraska Universities. He has accepted an invitation to be a co-presenter at the June 2023 Global Alliance for Public Relations & Communications Management. The invitation was offered by the Puerto Rico Associations of Public Relations following their appearance on the podcast.
Woolfolk gained public relations and broadcasting experience from very enviable career experience. At the top of his list is his White House appointment in Bill Clinton’s administration. His other senior positions include: the 1997 Presidential Inaugural Committee, Press Secretary as Clinton’s Delaware Press Secretary, Press Secretary for the late chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Education and Labor, contractor for the U.S. Surgeon General. He has produced national and local talk radio shows, several television, cable and satellite shows.
