Expressions of faith

The passage emphasizes the transformative power of God, accessed through faith, as described in the Bible. It references John the Baptist and Jesus' teachings about spreading the gospel and living a life of devotion and strength.

Bishop-Elect Dr. Monterey D. Lee, Sr.

“From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffered violence, and the violent took it by force,” Matthew 11:12

Having faith in God is the key to having the power of God. In Matthew 10:1 Jesus says to His disciples: “I give you power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.”

This power is the full power of God, the ‘dunamis’ power, the dynamo power of God. It’s the power of God that changes hearts, minds, goals and dreams. This power helps us to live a devotional, pure and holy life before God. As believers we work to get to this state of life which is our occupation, calling, and status. It is the power of God that heals, gives sight, sets free, cleanses, opens our eyes to hear, gives us life and keeps us grounded in the word.

The goal is to have an ongoing life with no conclusion or end.

The power of God will never stop you, but it will block your accuser—the one who commits an offense against you. When you have faith in God, your life is secure, fixed, and fastened so as not to give way, become loose, or become lost. The Holy Spirit checks your life each day to ensure that all things are tightly fastened, fixed firmly, and secured.

Before Jesus teaches the multitudes concerning John, He commands His 12 disciples to go and preach, saying “The kingdom of heaven is at hand. As I go, you go. Not into the way of the Gentiles, or into any city of the Samaritans, but you go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. I will go to the Gentiles and the Samaritans.”

John is in prison at this time for preaching and teaching the truth to Herod. John rebuked Herod in public for marrying his sister-in-law. When John heard of the works of Christ, John sent two of his disciples: Andrew, the brother of Peter; and John, the son of Zebedee, a Galilean fisherman and devoted follower of the prophet John. John the Baptist’s father is Zechariah, the devoted follower (disciple) of John the Baptist, his father is Zebedee and James’ younger brother. John said unto them to go and look for Him (Jesus) and ask Him if He is the one or should they look for another.

They were told to go and tell John the Baptist the things they heard and saw. The blind received their sight, the lame walked, the lepers were cleansed, the deaf heard, and the dead were raised. The poor had the gospel preached to them. They were told: “As you go, blessed is he whosoever shall not be offended in me.”

Jesus now taught the multitude concerning John. “What did you go out to see? My prophet, my messenger I sent before your face, which shall prepare the way of the Lord before thee. What did you come out in to the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind. Out here you will only see God.”
