LeBron James signs with Philadelphia 76ers

LeBron James has officially signed with the Philadelphia 76ers, joining Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Jaylen Brown in a powerhouse lineup. The four‑time NBA champion enters his 24th season aiming to bring another title to Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia 76ers have picked up four-time NBA champion LeBron James.

The Philadelphia 76ers have signed four-time NBA champion LeBron James, adding one of the most accomplished players in league history to a roster already featuring Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown and rookie V.J. Edgecombe.

The team announced the signing Monday but did not disclose the terms of the contract.

James, 41, enters his 24th NBA season as the league’s all-time leading scorer with 43,440 career points. He is also a four-time NBA Most Valuable Player, four-time NBA Finals MVP, and 22-time All-Star. His four championships came with the Miami Heat (2012, 2013), Cleveland Cavaliers (2016) and Los Angeles Lakers (2020).

“I am thrilled to welcome LeBron James to the Philadelphia 76ers,” Managing Partner Josh Harris said. “One of the greatest players in NBA history and one of the best athletes ever, his accomplishments are iconic. I cannot wait to see LeBron alongside Jaylen Brown, V.J. Edgecombe, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and our talented roster as we work to deliver a championship for Philadelphia.”

James spent the past seven seasons with the Lakers and averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds during the 2025-26 campaign while shooting 51.5% from the field. It marked his 23rd consecutive season averaging at least 20 points per game.

Philadelphia President of Basketball Operations Mike Gansey said James’ impact extends well beyond his on-court accomplishments.

“There is no doubt LeBron is one of the greatest players to ever play the game,” Gansey said. “He is the ultimate competitor, a tireless worker and a tremendous leader. We couldn’t be happier to welcome him and his family to the 76ers.”

James is the only player in NBA history to record at least 10,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 10,000 assists. He also ranks first all-time in career field goals, fourth in assists, fifth in triple-doubles and sixth in steals.

In the post season, James has appeared in an NBA-record 302 playoff games and holds league records for playoff points, playoff victories and playoff series wins. He has led teams to the postseason 19 times during his career.

Beyond the NBA, James has won three Olympic gold medals with Team USA in 2008, 2012 and 2024.

The 76ers announced James will wear his familiar No. 23 as he begins the next chapter of his Hall of Fame career in Philadelphia.
