Payne Chapel A.M.E. Church’s Spring Revival will feature Rev. Bankole Akinbinu of Baptist Grove Baptist Church of Raleigh North Carolina as the evangelist on June 11-13. Services at Payne (212 Neill Ave) begin nightly at 7 pm and all are invited to attend.

After preaching his first sermon at age 16, Rev Akinbinu went on to graduate from Washington Bible College and Princeton Theological Seminary.

“I believe, based on my own experience, that God will deposit something that you cannot shake in your spirit,” said Akinbinu in an interview with The Washington Times. ” ‘Bankole, preach the Gospel,’ was something I could not shake and it did not matter where I was or what I was doing.”

While still in his 20s, Rev. Akinbinu served as associate minister at Community Bible Baptist Church in Lanham, Maryland and was minister to youth and young adults at St. James A.M.E. in Newark, New Jersey.

Since 2012, Rev. Akinbinu has served as senior pastor at Baptist Grove Baptist Church in Raleigh North Carolina where his congregation has nearly doubled in size since his arrival.

“I believe that many ministers and pastors are public successes and private failures. Hopefully, I would be known as both a great husband and preacher, but if it was an option between the two—I would rather be known as a great husband than a great preacher,” he said.

Currently, Payne Chapel serves the east Nashville and middle Tennessee communities through the Daniel Payne Outreach Ministries, Inc. This outreach effort provides emergency food relief for area families (Living Breadbox), an alcohol and drug prevention program for at-risk teens (ASK-PEP Program), and childcare services including toddlers, preschool, before and aftercare service for children and youth (Daniel Payne Christian Childcare Center.)
