Watson Grove Missionary Baptist Church, also known as ‘The Grove,’ participated in their semi-annual Make-A-Difference-Day, a ministry ministering to the community through service, on May 31.

Make a Difference Day began at the Nashville Rescue Mission’s ‘Women’s, Men’s and Children’s campuses’ where volunteers served breakfast from 4:30-9 am. There were other partners at the Rochelle Center and the Hope Lodge for the American Cancer Society from 8-12 pm, volunteering by preparing breakfast for cancer patients and their caregivers, assisting in deep cleaning, and beautifying the properties for guests services.

This year, partners of Watson Grove MBC participated in volunteer acts with the Relay for Life, sponsored by the American Cancer Society and the Weather Channel held at McGavock High School. Partners assisted with set up, registration, the survivor area and survivor lunch as well as setting up the luminaries for the Relay for Life from 10 am-2 pm.

During the mid-morning and afternoon hours, a team of partners volunteered at the Second Harvest Food Bank, helping teachers pack up their classrooms at Fall Hamilton Elementary School. The Edgehill Cleanup team also picked up trash and litter in the community.

Simultaneously, a team cleaned items donated for sale in the thrift store of Operation Stand Down, an organization assisting veterans.

001“This completed a day of concentrated efforts of service-centered activities,” according to organizers. “At every stop, we will carry the love and compassion of Christ to the least of these, our brothers and sisters.”

Partners of Watson Grove MBC are proud to volunteer with additional organizations from last year, including: the Dismas House, Good Samaritan Recovery Center, and The Next Door.

Watson Grove Missionary Baptist Church is located at 1415 Horton Ave. Rev. John R. Faison, Sr. is the senior pastor.
