Have you ever noticed someone texting or reading something that causes them to tune out everything around them? While you’re observing their behavior, you might see a smile come on their face. You don’t know what they are reading, so you might wonder if it’s a picture, a poem, or maybe a funny joke. All you notice is the smile that disconnects them from everything else. Sometimes the thoughts of someone will bring a smile to your face when you see their name in a text, even before reading the texted message.
We don’t always have to speak to communicate or have visual contact for communication. Rev. Enoch Fuzz, the pastor of Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, underwent surgery last week on his vocal cords that left him with instructions to be silent for approximately two weeks. He continues on his journey with stage four lung cancer, and as the pastor of Corinthian. It is at this time that he is in silent communication with the wonders of technology and texting. Fuzz has always made great use of text messaging for business, ministry, community organizing, and personal messaging. He is quite the texter!
Texting has been a big part of his communication for quite some time. He learned ‘excellence in texting’ because he has always cared about people and ministry, and he could not always talk in order to get things done in the way needed. Therefore, he makes use of texting and other methods of electronic media.
Why are we talking about texting? Because Fuzz made the following statement (in a recent text): “I’m being cared for beyond anything I can deserve.” With everything that this pastor, friend, brother, father, grandfather, mentor, advisor, and leader has done for many people over the years, it is safe to say that Rev. Fuzz does deserve the best of care.
As a part of his healing, he will do as his doctors say: “Get plenty of rest and liquids.”
